The Australian books...I loved Enid Blyton as well. The Australian books I remember though are 7 Little Australians and the Silver Brumby series. I also remember a picture book I loved called The Bunyip of Berkeley's Creek. I still have it and my 11 month old son (who brings me books from his shelf constantly throughout the day) loves it as well. He seems to loves the sound of the word bunyip, which is repeated often.
